BUS TOUR ALONG THE HISTORIC COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE
We have arranged for a fantastic six hour bus tour of the beautiful lower Columbia River Gorge. We will be following the very same route taken by the Louis and Clark during their historic 1804-1805 journey in discovering a new land route to the Pacific Ocean.
Our tour begins as we head east along the Oregon side of the Columbia River and includes stops at interesting points along the historic Columbia National Scenic Area.
Our first stop will be at Multnomah Falls, the second highest water fall in North America. Next will be the historic Bonneville Fish Hatchery, where you will see how millions of Coho and Chinook Salmon, Sturgeon and other NW fish species are raised for stocking NW rivers and streams.
Next, we will visit the magnificent Bonneville Dam with its impressive fish ladders and 18 giant turbines that produce a combined 1.2 million watts of electric power for the Oregon/Washington region. The bus will gently climb the old gorge highway to Crown Point which offers an impressive panoramic view of both the Washington and Oregon sides of the Columbia River.
As noon approaches, we arrive at old town Hood River, Oregon where we will stop for lunch and refreshments. On our return to Portland we will cross over the Hood River Bridge, travel west along the Washington State side of the Gorge, and complete our tour with a wine tasting visit to one of Washington's excellent Vineyards.

Friday September 11th
Around 9 am we plan to leave on a group field trip to the
Portland Zoo .
Sign Up for this activity in the reunion hospitality center when you arrive at the Hotel. We will ride the courtesy bus to light rail to the zoo an Tri Met. Show the transit ticket to get $1.50 off the $10.00 price of admission for seniors (65). The trip will take about 1 hour with a short transfer from the Yellow line to the Blue line in downtown Portland. Zoo admission is $11.50 for adults and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Plan on spending as much time as you like at the zoo and if you want to head back to the hotel early or spend some time in down town at the transfer point feel free to head back early.

The zoo has food vendors so you can spend as much time as you like but you should plan to head back to the hotel at about 3 pm to avoid rush hour traffic.

Friday Evening Group Banquet and Raffle
At the Hotel. Cash Bar opens at 6:00 P.M., Dinner at 7:00 followed by the Raffle. (Please bring one item valued at $20-$25 to donate to the Raffle, Vietnam related or any item, Gift Cards, Wine, Liquor etc.). As with last year there may be an auction if any items donated qualify. (meal selections to be announced)
Saturday Sept 12th
A group trip downtown on the MAX, Portland’s Light Rail, with give you many options for sightseeing, shopping and eating. The plan is to travel on the light rail together and then you will have the option on a tour guided by one of the organizing team or go on your own. Options will include:
